Ensemble Leadership Certificate

This certificate will help educators interested in deepening their knowledge and understanding of leadership within instrumental and choral ensembles such as Concert Band, Choir, Orchestra, and Jazz Band. Courses in LVC’s Ensemble Leadership Certificate program highlight advanced conducting, programming, musician and educator Wellness, orchestration and arranging, and organizational leadership.

Why Ensemble Leadership?

The Ensemble Leadership certificate, as a stand-alone certificate or requirements towards the Master of Music Education or Master of Education degrees, will aid educators in choosing what music they can program for their ensembles—whether self-arranged or by others—and how to take care of their students’ and personal mental well-being. Courses are taught by faculty with extensive academic and professional experience, who will assist you with developing leadership skills to become an effective ensemble leader and the finer details of advanced conducting for your specific discipline.

This 12-credit graduate certificate is offered online and culminates with a two-week summer residency, including a conducting symposium.

Becoming a Musical Leader

LVC has produced countless music graduates who have gone on to successful careers regionally, nationally, and internationally since the program’s founding in 1866. The Ensemble Leadership Certificate is a budget-friendly way for you to apply your new knowledge into any student group or ensemble.
