Intersections of Academics and Art

Housed in a former church in the gothic-revival style, the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery hosts five to six exhibitions a year, with loans from major national and regional art museums, galleries, and collectors. Exhibitions are made possible by The Friends of the Gallery, the Gallery’s membership group, as well as other generous sponsors.

Gallery Semester Hours

Wednesday: 5–8 p.m.
Thursday–Friday: 1–4:30 p.m.
Saturday–Sunday: 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
By appointment for tour groups. (Please contact the Gallery at 717-867-6445 or gallery@lvc.edu to arrange a private Gallery talk for your school or organization. Admission is free.)

Elliott Erwitt: Dog Dogs

Elliott Erwitt was an acute observer of the canine world, from the dignity of the ankle high Chihuahua to the anxiety of the homeless hound, from the smugness of the adored dachshund to the patience of the pom-pommed poodle. His precise, masterful, and yet easygoing compositions are hallmarks of his doggy portraits and well-known images of human subjects that range across a long and successful career. If Erwitt proves anything here, it is the mutual resemblance between dogs and humans in our relationships with these furry fellow travelers.
