LVC students perform in musical production of 9 to 5

Music Theatre & Opera at LVC

At Lebanon Valley College, music theatre and opera are student-centered, collaborative, and community-driven. Students gain hands-on experience both onstage and behind the scenes while creating work that serves audiences of all ages from infants experiencing live theatre for the first time to lifelong arts patrons in the Central Pennsylvania community.

Our programs emphasize artistic excellence, accessibility, mentorship, and experiential learning. Whether students are performers, directors, designers, technicians, musicians, educators, or creators, they are actively involved in the creative process from day one.

Music Theatre presents Tuck Everlasting in April 2024.

Six Productions Each Year

LVC Music Theatre and Opera produce six productions annually, offering students extensive opportunities to perform, design, direct, stage manage, and collaborate across multiple theatrical styles and genres.

  • Alumni Musical (presented every fourth year in place of the Small Cast Musical)
  • Children’s Musical
  • Opera

Spring

  • Theatre for the Very Young
  • Touring Opera
  • Mainstage Musical

In addition to fully staged productions, students also perform in cabarets and special events throughout the academic year.

Accessibility Initiatives

The LVC Music Theatre and Opera programs are committed to accessibility in every aspect of our work. We believe the performing arts should be welcoming and engaging for all audiences and participants.

Our accessibility initiatives include:

  • A dedicated sensory-friendly performance of the spring musical every year, regardless of the production title or content.
  • Audio-described performances in collaboration with Central Pennsylvania audio describer Nicole Sardella Audio Description Services.
  • Community-centered programming designed to reduce barriers to arts participation.
  • Free Touring Opera performances for schools and educational partners.

Through these initiatives, students learn not only artistic practices, but also how accessibility and inclusion are essential components of contemporary theatre-making.
