Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Admission

Admission Requirements

Individuals who have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university and wish to pursue a profession in occupational therapy are encouraged to apply to the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program at LVC. Students nearing the completion of a bachelor’s degree are also encouraged to apply.

The program begins each year in mid-May. Seats in the cohort are limited. Application reviews and admissions interviews are conducted on a rolling basis. Details on the May 2028 Cohort Application Cycle can be found below.

Although admission decisions are holistic, we strongly consider academic performance, which includes:

  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Completion of all pre-requisite coursework (within the last 7 years) with a minimum grade of a B- or better to include:
    • Anatomy & Physiology I & II
    • Introduction to Psychology
    • Abnormal Psychology
    • Statistics
  • Applicants are expected to demonstrate an understanding of occupational therapy and the role of the occupational therapist. Exposure may be gained through observation, employment, volunteer experiences, informational interviews, or other relevant experiences. A specific number of occupational therapy observation hours is not required.

Application Requirements

Applicants who possess a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university will be considered for admission pending a review of the following requirements:

  • Completed Lebanon Valley College graduate online application or Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service (OTCAS) application
  • An official transcript from all undergraduate colleges or universities attended showing a minimum college GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale); any applicants not meeting this standard will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    • Secure, electronic delivery of official transcripts to graduateadmission@lvc.edu is recommended.
    • If sending paper copies, official transcripts should be signed and sealed by the issuing school and mailed to the Graduate Admission Office.
    • Institutions outside of the United States must be recognized as a degree-granting institution in its home country. A course-by-course evaluation of all foreign university transcripts by an independent service based in the United States is required. World Education Services (WES) and SpanTran Evaluation Services are two suggested evaluators. Please have your official evaluation sent directly to Lebanon Valley College.
  • A personal statement describing the applicant’s interest in occupational therapy, understanding of the profession, relevant experiences, and reasons for pursuing occupational therapy as a career.
  • A current professional résumé.
  • 2 professional or academic references who can speak to your qualifications for graduate study (e.g., professors, supervisors, or colleagues in a relevant field).
    • References will be asked to complete an online reference form provided by LVC. Separate letters of recommendation are not required.
  • GRE scores are not required, but applicants may—at their option—submit them for consideration.

The most qualified applicants, based on a review of the above admission standards, will be invited for a personal interview; a final admission decision will be made after the interview.

Application materials can be uploaded in the Graduate Application Portal, submitted to graduateadmission@lvc.edu, or mailed to:

 May 2028 Application Cycle

The important dates and deadlines for students seeking admission to the May 2028 MSOT cohort are below.

  • Application Opens: July 1, 2027
  • Application Review & Admission Interviews: Rolling
  • Admissions Decisions Released: Approximately January 2028*
  • May 2028 Cohort Start: May 11, 2028 (Tentative)

*The Lebanon Valley College Master of Science in occupational therapy program has initiated the accreditation process with the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E, Bethesda, MD 20814. ACOTE’s telephone number c/o AOTA is (301) 652-AOTA (2682) or (301) 652-6611, and its web address is www.acoteonline.org.

The program must be granted Candidacy Status, have a pre-accreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).

In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
