LVC Dance Team Competes at Regional Event

The Lebanon Valley College Dance Team opened 2025 with a new challenge and found immediate success. The long-time campus club team formed a new Competition Dance Team during the fall semester and competed at Dance Team Union’s Newark Regional Competition in early January. LVC won the College Pom and College Jazz categories and placed second in College Hip Hop.
“Competing against other colleges has been a team goal, and we felt that with the team’s level of talent and commitment this year, we could achieve our goal,” said Rachel Aukamp ’25, Dance Team President. “We were excited to expand our horizons from performing at the semester showcases and local events to something bigger.”
Vice President Olivia Delgiacco ’26, a Mathematics major added, “Several of our dancers had prior competition experience and were eager to participate again, while others had the opportunity to compete for the first time. We chose DTU as it is a college-level competition that provided a valuable introduction to the competitive scene and allowed us to evaluate our interest before pursuing national-level competitions. The experience also gave us insight into areas for improvement to enhance our performances for future competitions.”
The groundwork for the Competition Team began in September with auditions. The 13 members then practiced for at least three hours a week—in addition to regular club rehearsals—to learn the choreography. Students even returned during winter break to fine-tune their routines and bond as a team.
“Unlike many of our competitors at the competition, the LVC Dance Team is not run by coaches or outside staff. We are an entirely student-run organization. While it can be challenging at times, it is rewarding to know that our time and energy are appreciated. We have a large support system from current students to alumni, family, and friends,” said Aukamp, a double major in Business Administration and Marketing.
Molly Klose ’27, M’28, a Speech-Language Pathology major, said her college experience has only been enhanced by joining the Dance Team.
“In high school, I was at my dance studio every day working on routines, teaching, and growing my love for dance, and I did not want that to stop in college. Before I even came to LVC, I connected with the Dance Team and got to know some of the girls on the team, who were all so incredibly welcoming and friendly,” said Klose.
Looking ahead, the Dance Team hopes to compete at the College Classics National Competition in April 2026.
