Students on Go First trip to Quebec City during summer 2015.

Canada | Quebec City

The goal of this four-week summer study abroad program is to offer LVC students the opportunity to engage with the language, culture and lifestyle in the cradle of French-speaking Quebec City, Canada. Students will enroll in an intensive French course at their appropriate level (advanced beginner, intermediate, advanced), and participate in mandatory volunteer experiences and optional cultural activities in the afternoons to truly immerse in French language and culture. Students will develop skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in addition to the study of grammar and phonetics.

  • French language course levels will be determined by a French language placement test.
  • The program combines a three-hour daily classroom instruction with mandatory community volunteer and cultural activities on most afternoons.
  • Students live with local host families who will provide breakfast and dinner.
  • Scholarship funding for students completing a French language concentration is available through the Languages Department for this program.
