Special Interest Groups

American Sign Language Club

ASL Club was founded to further LVC’s understanding and awareness of ASL and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community. At its founding, there was no ASL class available to students at the institution. However, a class is now offered! Previous club events included a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Week which included speakers from Gallaudet University, ASL interpreters, and a Sign and Dine event. The club is open to any student from any major interested in learning more about ASL and increasing awareness of the language.

 

Anime Society

The Anime Society is an organization dedicated to promoting Anime (Japanese animation), which is known throughout the world for both its thematic and technical sophistication. Its primary activity is hosting showings of various Anime series and films for the relaxation and socialization of the campus community.

 

College Conservatives

Open to all members of the student body, the College Conservatives promote conservative values and encourage interest in the governmental process. Activities include bringing conservative speakers to campus, encouraging values on campus, and participation in the campaigns and elections of various candidates.

 

College Progressives

Formed to encourage and support the ideals of the Democratic Party, College Progressives is open to any student interested in politics who wants to become involved with party activities.

 

Culinary Club

LVC’s Culinary Club is a fun-loving group of students who enjoy sharing time, recipes, and of course, FOOD! The members combine their knowledge and love of cooking/baking at fundraisers, service events, and casual get-togethers. No experience necessary!

 

Global Education Club

This is a group of students dedicated to increasing curiosity and awareness about the world. The group consists of international, study abroad, and internationally-experienced students, or those who are just interested in learning more. The club meets bi-weekly and helps to organize Global Coffee Hours, International Education Week, Moon Festivals, Lunar New Year, the International Food Festival, and more! Please join the group at its next Global Coffee Hour for coffee, culture, and conversation.

 

Indoor Color Guard

This organization teaches and helps its members to improve color guard skills and hopes to perform at events. All students are welcome to join. LVC’s Indoor Color Guard is for performers of any skill level to learn an originally-composed and choreographed show. We meet weekly and teach skills on equipment such as six-foot flags, rifle, and sabre.

Outdoors Club

The LVC Outdoors Club provides students with opportunities to participate in different activities. Day trips include hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing. Each semester there is an overnight camping trip where students have different options for activities based on their interests. Joining the club is a great way to meet other people who enjoy being active in the outdoors. The club holds meetings as needed, typically once a month.

Comprised of designated students from LVC’s intercollegiate athletic teams.

 

Student Programming Board (SPB)

The Student Programming Board plans many exciting events throughout the year. Top-notch performers such as comedians, hypnotists, illusionists, and more hit the stage nearly every Friday night. The Underground Dance comes alive with more than 200 students every Saturday beginning at midnight. They plan multiple nights of entertainment right on campus. We also offer a Coffeehouse Series at MJ’s located in downtown Annville. A different performer, including some LVC students, appears on the first Wednesday of each month. SPB also offers bus trips throughout the semester to nearby attractions and events.

 

Swing Dance Club

The Swing Dance Club is a student-run organization meant to promote interest and educate students in forms of dance from the earlier 1900’s, including but not limited to East Coast Swing, Charleston, Collegiate Shag, and Lindy Hop. In addition to the dance steps, members also learn about musicality and visit several of the local dance venues. The SDC holds one social dance per semester open to campus. In the spring, members will organize a charity dance. Join the club’s group on Facebook.

 

Trivia Club

Trivia Club is a fun, random, knowledge-based club that plays many trivia-style board games and holds mock Jeopardy! games. We host trivia competitions for students and faculty. Like any great game with friends, we start off having fun, but ultimately turn serious when the stakes grow higher.

 

ValleyFest

ValleyFest is the Lebanon Valley’s annual spring arts festival, hosted by Lebanon Valley College. ValleyFest is almost completely student-run and planned, with the process beginning at the start of each academic year. There is sure to be something for everyone!
