Cloyd H. Ebersole Scholarship Fund in Education

Awarded to a sophomore or junior student pursuing teacher certification, based on need, past performance, and future promise as a professional in education. Dr. Ebersole came to LVC in 1954 and established the College’s elementary education certification program. He was appointed the chair of the Department of Education in 1966, a position he held until he retired in 1982.

Bryan Hearsey Scholarship in Actuarial Science

Awarded on a merit basis to an incoming first-year student majoring in actuarial science. Dr. Bryan Hearsey was a beloved long-time professor instrumental in building the actuarial science program. He taught from 1972-2011 and served as Director of Actuarial Science and Chair of the Mathematics department.

June E. Herr Scholarship in Elementary Education

Awarded to sophomore, junior or senior students intending to enter early childhood education. The recipient will have enthusiasm for teaching and show continued promise as an elementary school teacher. June Herr graduated from the College in 1934 with a B.S. in Music Education and served as a distinguished member of Elementary Education faculty for 27 years.

David I. Lasky and Ann M. Lasky Scholarship in Psychology

Awarded to a senior psychology major who has a made a lasting contribution to psychology at LVC. David Lasky, Professor Emeritus of Psychology, taught at the College for 21 years and served as chair of the psychology department.

Jean O. Love Psychology Award

Awarded to an outstanding psychology senior at graduation on the basis of scholastic achievement at LVC and potential for leadership in the field of psychology. Dr. Jean Love retired in 1985 after more than 30 years on the LVC faculty, including a long tenure as psychology department chair from 1954-1970.

Gerald J. Petrofes Scholarship Fund (Education & Biology Majors)

The Gerald J. Petrofes Scholarship Fund is awarded to students who demonstrate good character, good academic standing, and financial need with preference given to education and biology majors. Gerald Petrofes was associate professor emeritus of physical education and a teacher-coach at Lebanon Valley College for 25 years before retiring in 1988.

Robert C. Riley and Ruth R. Riley ’40 Scholarship in Accounting and Economics

Awarded to an upper-class student who has completed accounting & economics classes. Robert Riley joined Lebanon Valley in 1951 as a member of the business department faculty. He later became a vice president and Controller of the College.

C. F. Joseph Tom Scholarship in Economics

Awarded to a junior or senior economics major on the basis of scholarship and good campus citizenship. Dr. Joe Tom arrived at the College in 1954 and taught for 35 years in the department of economics, serving as department chair from 1964-1974 and as LVC faculty representative on the Board of Trustees from 1969-1971.
