Squires School of Music & Creative Technology

One quarter of LVC’s undergraduates participate in music programming and experiences.

Joan Squires ’79 and her husband, Dan Hamann, have pledged $5 million through the Ever Forward campaign to establish the Squires School of Music and Creative Technology. This naming gift for LVC’s Music programs will transform the Bertha Brossman Blair Music Center into a hub for music education, performance, and creative technology.

Signature renovations include a sweeping two-story glass lobby to welcome guests and serve as an additional event space along with a significant overhaul to Lutz Auditorium. Technology deployed in the auditorium and the building at large will have the ability to subtly enhance or emphatically underline the program material.

Upgrades will include:

  • Immersive object-based audio mixing platform
  • Active variable room acoustics system
  • Large format LED wall displays on stage and in house
  • LED house and stage lighting
  • System controls for hosting anything from simple events to full-scale productions with the touch of a screen
  • Integration with existing recording and production facilities on campus

In Their Words

These types of campaigns require participation from many people who care about LVC. It’s not about the size of the donation—it’s about investing in an institution that has been special to so many of us so that future generations can benefit.
Joan Squires ’79
Joan Squires’ extraordinary gift will have an indelible impact on music at LVC. The transformation of Blair Music Center will benefit our music majors, non-majors, prospective students, and outstanding faculty, while creating a central hub for gatherings and events across campus. These revitalized spaces will reflect LVC’s longstanding tradition of excellence in music while preparing our students to thrive.
