The Socially and Emotionally Competent Educator
Join LVC’s Graduate & Professional Studies on April 9 from 6–8 p.m. for a professional development opportunity for educators and other school personnel. ACT 48 continuing education hours will be given to those who attend.
This session will explore the essential components of infusing social and emotional learning (SEL) from self to classroom. Through this course, we will delve into the five key components outlined by CASEL: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. By integrating these components into our teaching practices, we aim to cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning environment that nurtures the social and emotional well-being of both educators and students alike. The session will be led by Dr. Susan Weiss and Dr. Jennifer Kanupka.
The itinerary for the evening is:
5:45 p.m.—Check In, Clyde A. Lynch Memorial Hall
6 p.m.—Welcome
6:15–8 p.m.—Session
