Short-Term Programs
Canada
The goal of this four-week summer study abroad program is to offer LVC students the opportunity to engage with the language, culture and lifestyle in the cradle of French-speaking Quebec City, Canada. Students will enroll in an intensive French course at their appropriate level (advanced beginner, intermediate, advanced), and participate in mandatory volunteer experiences and optional cultural activities in the afternoons to truly immerse in French language and culture.
COSTA RICA
This four-week summer program is offered to students in any major who have an interest in broadening their Spanish language and Hispanic cultural knowledge. You can earn six credits with this beginning, intermediate, or advanced proficiency Spanish language course that will apply toward a major or minor in Spanish. Students live with different Costa Rican host families over the four-week program duration in two different cities: Monteverde and San Joaquin de Flores.
Prague, Czech Republic
This four-week study abroad program in Prague offers LVC students the opportunity to solve problems, explore new cultural norms, and experience the lifestyle in the Czech Republic. Students will study at the CEA CAPA Prague Center, an international education provider offering premier academic programs for U.S. college and university students and provider of LVC’s semester study abroad program in France.
Perugia, Italy
The goal of this summer study abroad program in Italy is to offer LVC students the opportunity to engage with the culture, language, and lifestyle of Italy in the small, historic city of Perugia.
Maastricht, Netherlands
This summer program offers students in any major the opportunity to develop awareness of cultural differences between the Netherlands, various European cultures, and the US. In addition to a tour of Maastricht, the program includes a study trip to Antwerp, museum visits, and public-school visits. Students will have the opportunity to explore central Europe on the weekends.
Belfast, Northern Ireland
The goal of this four-week summer study abroad program is to offer LVC students studying in ANY major the opportunity to engage with the history and culture of communication and leadership in Northern Ireland. A colorful and lively port city with a troubled past, Belfast is now a vibrant cultural hub on Northern Ireland’s eastern coast, also the capital city.
Edinburgh, Scotland
The goal of this three-week summer study abroad program is to offer LVC students studying in any major the opportunity to engage with the music and culture of historic and modern Scotland. Scotland has a rich cultural heritage, with a long and varied history of music-making that includes traditional Scottish folk music (drums, woodwinds, bagpipes), as well as classical and contemporary styles (rock, dance, neo-folk).
