About the Orientation Leader (OL) Program

Help new Dutchmen feel welcome! As an Orientation Leader (OL), you’ll be the friendly face guiding first-year and transfer students through move-in, orientation weekend, and their first few weeks on campus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • A stipend of $250 for the fall semester.
  • Two OL shirts to be worn during NSO.
  • All meals are covered during training and portions of NSO.
  • Option to earn Immersive Credit.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support all new students through New Student Orientation (NSO). This includes coming to all sessions and being an active participant.
  • Build relationships and connections with your mentees through appropriate communication before and during the semester.
  • Facilitate a welcoming environment where all students can feel included and like they belong at LVC.
  • Support all rules, regulations, and policies of the College.
  • Act as a resource to LVC and direct new students/mentees to campus resources as appropriate.
  • Maintain privacy with your mentees but report any required information to the appropriate campus personnel.
  • Connect with your mentees throughout the semester both in-person and virtually.
Requirements
Attendance & Participation
  • Attend all OL trainings
  • Attend New Student Orientation
  • Attend scheduled meetings as requested.
  • Connect with mentees at least two times in the fall semester (one individually and one inviting a mentee to an on-campus event).
Qualifications
  • Rising sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and stay in good disciplinary standing with the College.
