Leadership Development

Lead the Way at LVC

At LVC, leadership isn’t just about holding a title. It’s about jumping in, getting involved, and helping our community grow stronger together. Whether you’re guiding new students through Orientation, mentoring your peers, or representing your classmates in Student Government, there are countless ways to step up and make a difference.

You’ll build real-world skills, connect with people across campus, and discover your own leadership style along the way. No matter where you start, every opportunity helps you grow in confidence, purpose, and experience, and sets you up for success long after graduation.

Explore the options below and find your place to lead at The Valley!

Leadership Opportunities

Help new Dutchmen feel welcome! As an Orientation Leader, you’ll be the friendly face guiding first-year and transfer students through move-in, orientation weekend, and their first few weeks on campus. You’ll answer issues big and small, share what life’s really like at The Valley, and be one of their go-to people as they get settled.

Want to build community, support peers, and make our campus even more inclusive? Join the Mosaic Mentor program. You’ll work with incoming and transfer students to help them connect socially and academically, and feel right at home here.

Have ideas for making campus even better? As part of Student Government, you’ll help represent your classmates, plan events, and work with college leadership to make real change happen.

Show off your LVC pride as a Valley Ambassador and help future students see what makes us special. Lead campus tours, host events, and share your story with future students and families.

If writing is your thing, here’s a chance to help new students get stronger and more confident. Writing Mentors partner with first-year students (often in the First-Year Experience class) to guide them as they adapt to college-level writing and finding their voice on campus.

Trained and supervised by our professional counselors, the 5050 Peer Helpers get training in areas like suicide-prevention, LGBTQ+ sensitivity, bystander intervention, and then support other students one-on-one or through weekend groups (“Friendly Faces”). It’s leadership that really supports well-being and community care.
