English

If the world's a stage (as the Bard says), then English majors play the lead.

As writers, marketers, business leaders, teachers, and communicators in many fields, graduates of the LVC English program shape strategies; provide clear, concise, and crucial information; educate the next generation to be thoughtful critical thinkers; and, through their creativity, contribute to culture and society.

The ENG 299 Professionalization course will prepare you to discover, apply for, and thrive in a career that aligns with your goals and interests.

It’s easy to combine your interests by choosing double or even triple majors and performing with LVC’s popular Wig & Buckle Theater Company. In Their Words

LVC’s English Department is made up of many students and professors whom I now call my friends. My experience has extended beyond the borders of a page. Through the department, I’ve dined with an author, conferenced with several about my own work, and attended public readings and class visits for about a dozen. I’ve shared in discussions, put my voice to paper, and even produced a short film. The department is exceptionally skilled at learning your interests and then tailoring assignments to push you to achieve more with them.
