MLK Week of Service 2023

January 16–21, 2023

At LVC, we take part in a full week of service opportunities to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

Celebration & Service Opportunities

6:30–8 p.m.—Mission Central HUB, Immanuel UMC, 29 E Maple St, Cleona

Pack school, hygiene, and other kits to benefit individuals affected by natural disaster or living with other needs. Redbook signup required.


7 p.m.—Movie, King in the Wilderness, Allen Theatre, 36 E Main St, Annville

Through personal stories of the people who were around him, this film follows Martin Luther King, Jr. during the last years of his life: from the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 to his assassination in 1968.

FREE admission, popcorn, and drink for LVC Students.

7–8 p.m.—Night of Service, Chapel Lobby

Take part in a variety of service projects to address local community needs. Redbook signup requested.

11 a.m.–1 p.m.—Celebrating the Life and Words of Martin Luther King Jr., Mund Lobby

Stop by to consider some of the best-known words of MLK Jr. and share your thoughts on how we can live them out today.


7–8 p.m.—Serving by Sewing, Chapel Lobby

Whether you already know how to sew or not, join us as we learn together and make bags that will be filled with arts and crafts activities for children who are hospitalized. Redbook signup requested.

11 a.m.–1 p.m.—Dutchmen Pantry/Community Service Info Table, Mund Lobby

LVC has been designated a Hunger-Free Campus by the PA Department of Education. Stop by to learn about our expanded pantry offerings, other campus resources, and service opportunities available in the semester ahead.


7 p.m.—Pizza and Paint By Numbers, TBD

Join BSU to show your creativity (with a little help from the numbers), and enjoy some pizza!

9 a.m.–4 p.m.—Blood Drive, Mund Lobby & Blood Mobile on Sheridan Ave.

Support the Central PA Blood Bank. Sign up for a time to give.

9 a.m.–1 p.m.—Lebanon County Christian Ministries, 250 S 7th St, Lebanon

Inventory pantry offerings as LCCM strives to provide more nutritionally sound foods for their guests. Redbook sign up required.


8:30–11:30 a.m.—Habitat for Humanity, 1824 Chestnut St, Lebanon

Help rebuild a house in order to create a home for a future owner. Redbook sign up required.

Support the Dutchmen Pantry and Study Smart Resource Closet

Bins are located in Chapel Lobby, Bishop Library, and Mund Lobby.
