Mission, Goals, & Objectives

Our Mission

The mission of the Center for Accessibility Resources is to provide persons with disabilities equal access to Lebanon Valley College programs, services, and activities. This is accomplished by creating an environment that supports the understanding and acceptance of persons with disabilities throughout the college community, and the provision of reasonable and appropriate accommodations. The Center for Accessibility Resources affirms the right of persons with disabilities to obtain access in a manner promoting dignity and independence.

Our Goal

The Center for Accessibility Resources (CAR) aims to enhance student understanding and ability to self-advocate regarding accommodations, academic adjustments, and auxiliary aids.

Outcomes

  • Graduating seniors who used CAR services were surveyed regarding their self-advocacy skills related to their disability. Using a likert-scale, results showed that 70% of the respondents strongly agree that they can advocate for themselves by requesting accommodations and 20% agreed. These results show that more than 85% of graduating seniors feel that they can self-advocate for accommodations due to their disabilities.
  • Incoming students who used CAR services were also surveyed. Using a likert-scale, results showed that 56.25% of the respondents strongly agreed that they can advocate for themselves by requesting accommodations and 37.5% agreed. These results show that more than 85% of incoming students feel that they can self-advocate for accommodations due to their disabilities.
