Lebanon Valley College honored its newest members of the Lifetime Vickroy Associates at its annual Thomas Rhys Vickroy Society dinner on Friday, April 14, at the Hershey Lodge.

This year’s honorees include Susanne Harley Dombrowski ’83 and Francis M. Dombrowski; Jonathan Grote ’79 and Elizabeth Grote; Chester Q. Mosteller ’75 and Janet C. Mosteller; and Hilary Vesell, Esq.

Named after the College’s founding president, Thomas Rhys Vickroy, The Vickroy Society recognizes gifts of $1,000 and above given to the College by alumni, parents, and friends for any purpose during each academic year. Members of the Vickroy Society, including 430 donor households, generously provided more than $4.4 million in financial resources during the 2022–2023 academic year. These gifts sustain the mission of the College by providing resources to prepare our graduates for lives of learning, citizenship, and success. An integral part of the College seal, the laurel wreath is the symbol of the Vickroy Society. Lifetime Vickroy Associates are members of The Thomas Rhys Vickroy Society whose cumulative contributions to Lebanon Valley College total $100,000 or more during their lifetime, thereby demonstrating outstanding leadership support of the College.

Hilary Vesell, Esq.

Hilary Vesell generously entrusted 45 nineteenth-century American landscape paintings to The Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery at Lebanon Valley College. Now designated as The Vesell Family Collection, the paintings were given in honor of her late father, Dr. Elliot Vesell, who, along with his wife, Kristen, was a generous patron of the Gallery and had loaned work for several Gallery exhibitions. Along with the collection, the family also donated more than 400 books on American art that add tremendous scholarly context to the works. Dr. Elliot Vesell served 32 years as the founding chair of pharmacology at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and 22 years as assistant dean of graduate studies at the Penn State College of Medicine. He published more than 350 articles on pharmacogenomics and received many awards and honorary degrees, including an honorary degree from Penn State. He was highly regarded as a pharmacology scholar and a collector of American art. Hilary is a trial attorney focusing on family law matters and civil litigation. She has a B.A. in psychology and M.A. in clinical psychology from Columbia University. Hilary received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law. She continues to support her family’s legacy through the Gallery with contributions to Friends of the Gallery and the Gallery Art Acquisition and Restoration Fund.
