The Lebanon Valley Education Partnership (LVEP), a collaboration between Lebanon Valley College and the Lebanon Student District, celebrated its 35th annual golf tournament at Fairview Golf Course on June 28, netting nearly $40,000 after expenses. Every dollar raised goes directly to funding scholarships that create access to a Lebanon Valley College education for talented students from the Lebanon School District who are part of this unique, community-led mentoring program.

Since its founding in 1989, community donations, business sponsorships (see below), and tournament support has helped 75 LVEP graduates also earn a degree from Lebanon Valley College. Thirteen LVEP Scholars are enrolled at LVC this fall. Approximately 40 Lebanon School District students participate in the LVEP Program each year.

Winning groups and place finishers in each of the three flights received free greens fees generously donated by eight Lancaster and Lebanon courses: Bent Creek Country Club, Lebanon Country Club, Iron Valley Golf Club, Royal Oaks Golf Club, Fairview Golf Course, Lebanon Valley Golf Course, Blue Mountain Golf Course, and Manada Golf Club. First Flight winners—Mark Naimoli, Colin McGrory, Eric Boyd, and Josh Mountz—received one of two sets of greens fees donated by the Bent Creek Country Club. One hundred golfers played in the tournament.

About the LVEP

In 1989, a group of community leaders established the Lebanon Valley Education Partnership between Lebanon Valley College and the Lebanon School District. The partnership’s goal is to encourage students in the city of Lebanon to study, stay in school, and aspire to attend college.

LVEP features a unique mentorship program focused on the idea of further education and a clear path to get there, as well as skills and concepts that will help these students succeed throughout life. Each year, a new group of rising 8th graders is invited to join the program—students who are academically talented in the face of economic hardship. And each year, Lebanon Valley College awards several scholarships to students who meet the admission criteria and choose to enroll at LVC, making the cost of their education virtually tuition-free.
