Athletics History Alumni ProfilesGenevieve Hugenbruch ’15 returns to the Commonwealth with a myriad of experiences that she is using in her new role at a Pennsylvania nonprofit.
As a history major, you will develop a broad understanding of history and create meaningful interpretations of the past that are relevant to life today. In addition to delving into a wide array of historical topics, you’ll have the chance to specialize your studies based on your academic interests and career goals.
You’ll develop research skills and enhance your ability to address complex questions, communicate effectively, and think critically and creatively. For example, recent student-faculty research has focused on LVC’s 150-year history, Nicaragua’s Sandino Rebellion, the ethnic history of Hazleton, Pa., and the Coptic Christian minority in Egypt. You’ll also be able to gain practical experience and real-world application through a variety of internship and study abroad opportunities.
Our alumni have earned jobs in diverse fields, including education, law, business, journalism, and policy analysis. Many have gone on to prestigious graduate or law schools including Georgetown University, Northeastern University, and The New School in New York City.
Check out Professor James Broussard teaching a class on the lead-up to the American Revolution. He describes actions by the British government, such as the Stamp Act and stationing British troops Boston, that American colonists began to view as an overreach of power.
LVC has been really good—even better than I expected. My goal for the future is to become a professor of Middle Eastern studies, especially Islamic history, so that I can teach youth about their world’s history.
