Chuck came to LVC in 2015 after working as a high school athletic trainer in the area local to campus. Primarily working with Flying Dutchmen athletes in football, track & field, and basketball, he found that his prior work with high school athletes gave him a unique perspective on working with those athletes on the next step in their journey, college sports. Because all student-athletes are required to have a sports physical, their first campus interaction will be with Chuck or a member of his team. He understands that starting college can be a stressful and emotional time for both students and parents, so it is especially important to be patient. As the college’s head athletic trainer, he feels approaching each encounter with a smile and positive attitude builds trust between his department, the students, their parents, and ultimately Lebanon Valley College.

Put simply, Chuck thinks LVC is a “great place to be.” He feels fortunate to work with students on “the fun part” of their college experience because athletics is an added benefit to a student’s life. He is grateful to be surrounded by a team of professionals that he both admires and respects. The clock does not dictate their day. With events, game days, and practices, Chuck and his team rely on each other to be prepared for anything at any time.

Chuck also enjoys the opportunity to spend time in the classroom co-teaching a First Year Experience (FYE) class when his schedule allows. The FYE courses allow him to engage with student-athletes on a different level and to connect with students involved in other organizations outside of athletics.

When he is not on campus, Chuck’s hobbies align with his work. He is a certified personal trainer and enjoys running, sometimes competitively in a 5k, a marathon, or any distance in between. Playing cornhole with friends and students is another favorite pastime. If you find yourself in his office at the right time, you may be challenged to a quick or traditional 21 match.
