Annesha Edwards-Carter

As an undergrad studying political science and sociology, Annesha was an active member of the Manhattanville College community. She was an office assistant in the Religion and Social Justice Center all four years on campus. During her senior year, Annesha was president of the senior class and Black Student Union. When she returned to higher education to work on her Master of Education in higher education administration at Temple University, she was already working as an employment specialist at Special People in Northeast, assisting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Later, Annesha interned at the IDEAL Center, researching diversity and inclusion, assisting with the Diversity in Higher Education curriculum, and facilitating student and family trainings on diversity and implicit bias.  

Annesha loves LVC’s sense of community support. People engage because they want to be of service to each other and the campus community. During her first few weeks on campus, Annesha heard “What do you need?” from faculty, staff, and students regardless of their campus role. Helping DEIB wasn’t part of their job; It wasn’t required of them, but they showed up. In a very short time, Annesha felt that she was meant to be a part of this community. 

Annesha enjoys live music in her free time. Her favorites include R&B, soul, jazz, and Broadway tunes. Not always content to just listen, she’s known to enjoy an evening of karaoke with friends. She can also be found absorbed in a true crime podcast or a Marvel universe comic book or movie during her downtime.
