After the birth of her first child, Christine decided to take a step back from an intense career to focus on her family. When she heard about a job opportunity at LVC, she hoped it would bring balance to her personal and professional life. The shorter working hours and commute were key factors in her decision, but her pride as a 2002 alumna of The Valley made it the obvious choice.

Christine joined LVC in 2008 as an assistant for the graduate program in education. She remained involved with LVC’s Graduate Studies Program throughout her career. When she became an enrollment specialist for the MBA program, Christine felt it was the right time to pursue her MBA. Going through the experience of working on her master’s degree while juggling a full-time job and raising two young children has given her valuable insight into the students she advises.

One aspect that makes LVC stand out for Christine is the faculty and staff’s dedication to their students’ success. She is proud to play a part in that experience. Graduate students often juggle multiple responsibilities: work, family, friends, and school, relying on faculty and their advisor to help them navigate their program. Christine said, “The best part of my job as an advisor is helping all the students I work with reach their goals and finish their degrees.” She finds joy in helping them select the best courses and, at a manageable pace, moving them forward on their path to a master’s degree.

Christine’s husband, Dan Martin ’02, is also an LVC alum. Although they attended the same high school, they started dating during college when they reconnected through the Pride of The Valley, LVC’s marching band. Dan played the trumpet, while Christine was part of the color guard.

In her free time, Christine enjoys hiking, kayaking, or biking outdoors. She likes listening to audiobooks and music, watching classic movies, and relaxing with a good book. But she primarily appreciates anything that allows her to spend time with her family.
