Health Services

Nurse triage is available for non-emergency reasons virtually Monday and with varying hours Tuesday-Thursdays by calling 717-867-6232 or submitting the contact the Health Center form. If you are having a medical emergency or need immediate assistance, call 911. Public Safety can also assist you with medical referrals when the Health Center is closed. If you want to leave a non-emergent message for a nurse, you can complete this form.

Appointments are available with our medical director, Dr. Levelle Drose-Bigatel, or with our other advanced practice providers, Arie Yoder, PA-C, or Kathryn McGraw, CRNP, FNPBC, on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursdays. Our provider hours for the 2026–27 year are Tuesday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Wednesday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., and Thursday, 1–5 p.m.

TB Testing

We offer limited amount of TB tests on a first come first serve basis for $25, cash only. Placement appointments are only scheduled on Tuesdays followed by a second appointment Thursday for evaluation. Payment is due at first appointment If this is an immediate need, we may not be able to accommodate you. If you are unable to have a PPD or TB skin test, our PSH providers can order bloodwork or chest x-ray to complete your TB testing requirements.

Physical

We are able to provide the following for physical exams: medical history review, vital signs, immunization verification, vision testing, and physical exam. We are NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE HEARING TESTS at Shroyer. If your physical requires a hearing test you should schedule this with your primary care physician.

All students are required to have a health record completed by their family physician as a requirement to be officially registered for classes and to participate in intercollegiate athletics. All health records are confidential and only health center staff has access to them. New student health forms are due July 1 for the fall semester and Jan. 3 for the spring semester.

• All student-athletes must complete the health form via the Admissions Portal PRIOR to completion of the athletic health record form. Upon uploading their completed health forms, they will have the option to choose that they are an incoming athlete to receive the link to athletics for completion of their additional forms.
• Transfer students have the option to transfer their prior institution health record or submit a new LVC health record report. The health center nurse will review all transfer records and inform the student of any additional records needed. If transferring your health record, you will need to contact your prior institution to submit a records release form.  
• All new, incoming LVC students must complete the health form via the Admission Portal.
• The health center only accepts health forms by way of secure upload through the Admissions Portal. Do not mail, email, fax or drop off forms at the health center or with any other office on campus.

Immunization information must be completed and immunizations up-to-date in order for your health record to be considered complete. Some majors (i.e. Physical Therapy) may require additional entrance requirements. Please inquire directly with the Clinical Education coordinator or your advisor about requirements.

LVC requires the following immunizations:

• TDAP/Adacel/Boostrix (booster within last 10 years)
• Meningitis vaccine (Meningococcal conjugate, MCV4, MenACWY, Menactra, Menveo, MenQuadfi) – at least ONE dose, which must have been administered on or after 16th birthday.

The following immunizations are recommended, but not required:

• Hepatitis A
• HPV
• Meningitis B
• COVID-19
• OPV (polio) series
• MMR (2 doses required)
• Varivax vaccine (2 doses required) or Varicella Disease (date/age of disease is required)
• Tuberculosis Testing (PPD skin test) within the past 12 months (IGRA/Quantiferon gold blood test is acceptable)
• Hepatitis B (series of three)
• Influenza

We are unable to provide any type of allergy injections as we do not keep the necessary medical equipment in our office. Please check with your doctor or insurance for other resources for this service or another plan of care for your allergies.

All full-time students are responsible for carrying health insurance coverage and for submitting a Medical History Form to health services. If you do not currently have health care coverage, you can find several plans available for purchase here or through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Health Insurance Marketplace. Note that the College does not recommend any health insurance company or plan.

Student-athletes must have health insurance coverage that does not exclude intercollegiate sports in order to participate in intercollegiate sports.

All full-time and part-time international students are automatically enrolled in and required to purchase the International Injury & Sickness Insurance unless adequate proof of personal health insurance is provided to the College. Please refer to the International Student Handbook for further details.

Some over the counter medications are available at the health center at no extra charge. The health center is not financially responsible for medications prescribed by a physician or for medication that the student may have been taking prior to attending the College.

Students are responsible for the storage and maintenance of all prescription medications. Lockboxes may be purchased for use in resident rooms and are encouraged to ensure safety with all prescription medications and/or valuables. Free loaner lockboxes are available for medication storage through the health center on a first come first serve basis each academic year.

Excuses for missed classes due to illness are not provided by the Health Center. Students must speak directly to their instructors regarding any missed classes. Health Center staff will work with students if their illness necessitates leaving campus or missing more than three consecutive class days.  

If you are given an excuse note by an off-campus provider, you must submit it using this form.

Students with disabilities who need to receive accommodations should contact the Center for Accessibility Resources.

Health Services provides basic nursing care for common problems (e.g. colds, cough, stomach aches, etc.).

  • TB reads within 48-72 hours after the placement of the TB test

Advanced care providers are available by appointment on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for routine health care visits and medication management. All appointments are free to full-time LVC students.

There is no charge for visits to the health center. Students are financially responsible for prescriptions (not available at the health center), x-rays, laboratory tests, emergency medical services, and referrals to off-campus facilities or consultations that are not covered by insurance.

Shroyer Health Center recommends that students and parents consult with their individual insurance plan before a medical need occurs to verify which local health care facilities are accepted within their plan. The health center is not responsible for verifying insurance participation, or for charges incurred by visiting facilities not allowed by a student’s health plan.

Emergency room facilities are available 24 hours a day at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, and the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

• All students must submit new student health forms through the LVC Admissions Portal, including immunizations as described above by the due date.  Failure to return health forms may delay your ability to use health center services.
  
• The student is responsible for providing accurate information about his or her past medical history and present symptoms to allow proper evaluation and treatment.
• The student is responsible for asking questions if he or she does not understand the explanations of their diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, or any instructions.
• The student is responsible for any charges billed to him or her.
• The student is responsible for contacting the Health Center if his or her condition worsens or does not follow the expected course.
• The student is responsible for communicating with professors regarding missed classes due to illness.

Failure to submit completed health forms by the due date may result in not receiving your housing key, not being able to participate in athletic events, and/or disciplinary action through the Office of Student Affairs.
