LVC's nationally recognized program has placed nearly 100 percent of its graduates in high-paying jobs. Many alumni are company officers or consulting firm partners and principals.
Art & Art History
Art & Art History
students can travel to Paris for a first-hand exploration of the city's art, architecture, culture, and urban planning—with visits to Notre Dame, the Louvre, Versailles, and even the Paris sewers.
Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
In the last 10 years, more than 40 of our

students have co-authored and presented research at regional, national, and international scientific meetings—an experience more commonly reserved for graduate students.

From freshman year on, full-time education faculty serve as advisors to guide each major in the selection of appropriate courses to prepare for field practicums, student teaching, and a professional teaching position.

majors receive intensive training in the content and methodologies of all elementary school subjects, focusing on PreK through Grade 4. This is a new program—reflecting recent guidelines from the PA Department of Education and LVC.
- Middle Level
The
Middle Level
program is scheduled to launch in fall 2010 and will prepare students to teach grades 4-8.
English

majors choose an area of concentration related to the language arts: literature, communications, theater, or secondary education.

Each fall, LVC students spend the semester immersing themselves in French language and culture in Montpellier, France.

Students can take an immersive approach to learning

language and culture in Berlin, Germany, or a four-week summer language and culture course in Würzberg, Germany.

Unique to LVC, the major in

prepares students of history to work for museums, magazines, and journals.

majors often complete internships at law firms, public relations offices, newspapers and radio stations, museums and state archives, social service agencies, nonprofit organizations such as Common Cause, and political campaigns.
Individualized Major

Many LVC students design their own major with faculty support. Examples of recent individualized majors: biotechnology and business, chemistry and artifact conservations, environmental economics and policy, and mathematics of finance.

physics, and computer science students together for research projects in quantum information science.

program features a student-centered cirriculum and ample opportunities to perform as a soloist or with campus ensembles.

major, meaning they haven't yet decided what they want to pursue.

Physical Therapy
Students in LVC's six-year doctoral program in
physical therapy
benefit from state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching laboratories, a research center, a therapy pool, and a fitness/aerobic center. They get ample hands-on learning experience working with LVC's hundreds of student athletes.

Students majoring in

work closely with faculty and are encouraged to participate in summer research projects. The department maintains optics, atomic/nuclear, electronics, advanced physics, atomic force microscopy, and computational physics laboratories.

COOPERATIVE PROGRAMS
Engineering
With three years at LVC and two at any accredited
engineering
school, a student in this 3+2 program may earn both a B.S. from LVC and an engineering degree from another institution. LVC has cooperative agreements with both Penn State and Case Western Reserve universities.
Forestry/Environmental Studies
Forestry/environmental studies:
Duke University's School of the Environment cooperates with LVC to enable students to earn both a B.S. and a master's degree in five years.
Medical Technology
LVC students prepare for a B.S. in
medical technology
by spending three years on campus and one year working and studying in a hospital with an accredited school of medical technology.

A student in any LVC major can enter medical or dental school as long as core math and science requirements are fulfilled. The Health Professions Committee advises and helps prepare students for medical and dental school admission.

LVC graduates have attended some of the nation's top

schools including Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, Stanford, Washington and Lee, and William & Mary.
