Daniel Fox Summer Scholars Camps

June 26-July 1 or July 10-15, 2016
It's never too early to get ready for college, and the Summer Scholars Camps at Lebanon Valley College allows students to get a feel for college life while still enrolled in high school. Furthermore, when making admission decisions, colleges look for students who have demonstrated a variety of abilities, including engagement in extracurricular activities that develop one’s intellectual- and leadership-based skills; the Summer Scholars Camps provide such opportunities to enrolled participants.

The Summer Scholars program is a residential experience for exceptional high school students (who have completed 9th, 10th, or 11th grade), with participants completing challenging academic activities, learning about career opportunities in their chosen fields, gaining knowledge as to how to successfully navigate the social side of college life, and demonstrating to others a firm interest in higher education.

Students in the Summer Scholars Camps here at the Valley spend a week experiencing life at a college known for its atmosphere of academic excellence and personal attention—a college chosen by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top ranked schools in the North in the “Great Schools, Great Prices” category, and by The Princeton Review as one of the "Best Northeastern Colleges."

Beyond preparing students for collegiate life, a Summer Scholars Camp develops students’ long-term interests in their selected disciplines. Past participants have entered careers involving school counseling, clinical psychology, veterinary medicine, and pharmaceutical research, as well as many others, and participants have expressed the impact of the program on their lives.

“The program’s faculty opened up a world of possibilities and choices in a way that my high school experiences simply couldn’t. During the week, I could envision myself, for the first time, having a career in scientific research.”

“As a high school student, the program helped me to decide what college major to pursue and which college to attend.”

“The entire experience really helped me choose Lebanon Valley College over many other competitive science programs. Living on campus and learning in a hands-on atmosphere was a valuable experience and helped me prepare for college.”
