LONDON, ENGLAND: EDU 390 A Comparative Study of Education

May 15 - June 5, 2016

Dr. Jennifer Kanupka, Assistant Professor of Education, will teach a course titled EDU 390:  A Comparitive Study of Education. The 3 week course will focus on comparing and contrasting the national education curriculum in the U.K. with our state curriculum in the U.S., teaching training programs in the U.K. and the U.S., and the structure and role of Parliament and Congress in regulating educational practices.  Students will learn through in-class instruction, host school visits for teaching observations, and excursions to museums and popular tourist attractions. 

**This program is open to Education majors only.** 

The highlights:

  • Earn 3 credits, fulfill the Intercultural Diversity general education requirement
  • Live in downtown London with other LVC students in shared rooms
  • Receive a travel pass for unlimited subway and bus transportation around London
  • Excursions:
    • Half day bus tour of London
    • Half day Harry Potter tour of London
    • Full day excursion to Oxford
    • Tour of Globe Theatre and Westminster Abbey

The program cost of $4600 includes: 

  • Tuition (3 credits)
  • Shared housing in student residence 
  • London Tube travel pass
  • Wireless internet access
  • Foreign health insurance
Food, airfare/travel, and personal expenses are not included in the program cost. Airfare estimated at $1000 roundtrip.

Application deadline is FEBRUARY 1, 2016.  Applications must be accompanied by deposit payment of $200, non-refundable after February 1, 2016. Remaining balance is due March 15, 2016.
