A master’s in clinical mental health counseling is a high-demand degree among students and healthcare organizations. There’s a clear regional need—and it’s one that Lebanon Valley College is well-prepared to answer by building on our strong undergraduate psychology program
Develop the mental health counseling skills employers want.
Mental health counseling is a growing, high-demand field. Now, more than ever, employers need trained clinicians who are skilled communicators, mediators, and problem solvers.
With Lebanon Valley College’s master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, you’ll gain real-world skills for a career in hospitals, private practice, or social service organizations.
Impress major, regional employers and make a meaningful difference in your patients’ lives, whether you choose to enter clinical child psychology, addiction counseling, trauma-focused therapy, marriage/family counseling, or a variety of other counseling-related disciplines with your degree.
Courses available online and in-person to help you manage your time.
Learn the content you need to prepare you for the National Counselor Exam and to receive your Licensed Professional Counselor certification.
Our program emphasizes analysis, writing and oral communication skills, as well as field experience. Under the close supervision of a doctoral-level professional, you’ll launch into one semester of a clinical practicum followed by two semesters of clinical internship in health care.
Bring a broad-based background to your work.
LVC’s mental health counseling program is broader than most, and that’s deliberate. Counselors with broad skills are in high-demand across central Pennsylvania.
All students complete courses focused on essential counseling skills, along with specific experiences in addiction and trauma counseling. Students can also choose elective courses in:
• Marriage and family counseling
• Grief counseling
• Intervention and prevention
• School counseling
• Military and police counseling
• And more.
Learn online and face-to-face.
Whether you’re a busy medical professional conducting rounds or a new graduate who wants to practice counseling full-time, our hybrid degree program fits with your work and life schedule.
Take courses online and in-person at LVC's campus. Finish the program after two years of full-time enrollment and jump right into clinical practice. Or spread your coursework over three years or more to accommodate the demands on your schedule. Program credits are about one-third face-to-face and two-thirds online.
