Financial support of the College’s endowment builds a lasting legacy for current and future students at The Valley. Gifts to the endowment ensure the College’s long-term strength and are intended to last forever.<\/p>\n

Behind every professorship, scholarship or named fund is a unique individual, family or organization with a desire to make a difference and a vision to shape the future of LVC. Gifts to the College\u2019s endowment create a lasting stream of support for current and future students. Endowed funds enable you to craft your own legacy, honor or remember a loved one, advance the study of an important field, and demonstrate your support for LVC\u2014in perpetuity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n\n

Scholarships<\/div>\n

Nearly half of Lebanon Valley College’s endowment has been designated by committed alumni and friends to support scholarships. To ensure that LVC’s endowment will continue in perpetuity, the College awards a portion of that figure to students each year. (The awarded portion is 4.75% of the fund’s market value, averaged over 3 years). In total, LVC discounted students’ tuition by a total of $40.5 million this year through merit awards and need-based financial aid. When alumni and friends partner in this effort and endow a new scholarship, they help to put education within reach for students who need help most.<\/p>\n

A named endowed scholarship is an excellent way to celebrate an individual’s or family’s lifelong commitment to LVC and to do so in perpetuity. Such scholarships are established through a total commitment of $25,000 or more, generally paid over 1-5 years. Donors have the opportunity to name the scholarship using their own name(s), or to name them in honor\/memory of loved ones or faculty members. Donors and the student recipients are invited to meet one another at an annual campus event and encouraged to be in contact beyond the event.<\/p>\n

When the principal of an endowed scholarship reaches $50,000, the donor(s) may also set the criteria for the student recipient such as major, class year, financial need, and so on. Families often continue to add to their scholarship through ongoing outright gifts, wills or bequests, charitable gift annuities, or other means.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n\n

Professorships<\/div>\n

Endowed chairs and endowed professorships support the work of Lebanon Valley College\u2019s exceptional teachers and scholars. Endowing a named professorship involves a commitment of $1 million or more (through outright gifts or through a bequest or estate gift). Endowing a named chair involves a commitment of $1.5 million or more and provides the chair with yearly resources to sponsor his or her scholarly research.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n\n
