5050 Peer Helpers<\/div>\n
\n
\n

Trained and supervised by our professional counselors, the 5050 Peer Helpers for 2025\u201326 are students Marina Gerges \u201926, Ashley Wisner \u201927, and Phoebe Gerges \u201928. They are available by email at 5050@lvc.edu<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0or for appointments at the new Center for Counseling Services. Join their Canvas page<\/a> for a full look at their schedule!<\/p>\n

Students utilize one-on-one meetings privately with Peer Helpers to discuss such issues as long-distance relationships, academic concerns, and social anxiety. 5050 also run weekend social supportive groups called \u201cFriendly Faces\u201d which welcome all students at any point during the semester. The group meets Sundays at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Each Peer Helper is required to complete the following training: Title IX for reporting sexual assault (as such are mandated reporters); BraveZone training for sensitivity to the needs of LGBTQ+ students; and QPR training for suicide prevention.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n

Marina Gerges \u201926<\/h3>\n

Marina is a student in the 3+2 Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program with a music minor. Around campus, she plays violin in the Symphony Orchestra, works as a Peer Tutor and a library worker, and she is involved in Psi Chi and psychology club. In addition, she is involved in culture, community, and belonging programming as well as the Honors Program. As a new 5050, she is excited to create a welcoming atmosphere for all students!<\/p>\n

Ashley Wisner \u201927<\/h3>\n

Ashley is a psychology major. On campus, she is part of the Dutchman First, vice president of the outdoors club, and an active member of other clubs and organizations. She\u2019s excited to be a 5050 this year and to be able to help other students feel supported and welcomed here on campus.<\/p>\n

Phoebe is a student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program with a music minor. She is an active member and leader of multiple clubs. She is also a member of the Honors Program and works at the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery. She is excited to work with and help students!<\/p>\n

Friendly Faces<\/div>\n
\n

Friendly Faces is a social, supportive group that is facilitated each Sunday from 6\u20137 p.m. by the 5050 Peer Helpers. They cover topics such as building relationships, coping with stress, reading social cues, and speaking up. The group encourages students to join at any point in the semester. Educational Outreach<\/div>\n

\n
