Study Pods
Study pods are small, group study sessions led by faculty-nominated student mentors who have completed the course. These “pod leaders” answer questions, clarify content, explain concepts, review materials, and teach study strategies.
Study pods are offered at least twice a week for specific courses that are highly requested. Pod leaders are “on duty” for any student to attend; no appointment or request is needed. Please show up on time at the set time, day, and place. Study pods are a great option before requesting a tutor.
You can find the Study Pod schedule for spring 2023 on the drop-down menu below. The schedule will begin on Sunday, Jan. 22.
Please note that the study pod schedule follows the academic calendar schedule down to the hour; as long as classes are in session, study pods are in session. Visit the Registrar’s academic calendar webpage to see the exact dates and times of spring, fall, and holiday breaks.
Why should I attend these study pods?
Studies show that group study has many natural benefits. Students share various views and information, often learning from each other different ways to problem-solve; more questions can be asked and answered, and participants develop strong teamwork and cooperative skills, which are attributes that every employer wants.
When should I attend these study pods?
If you know, you will struggle in the course, be proactive and start attending one of the study pods early, even if it is to reinforce what you already know. Don’t wait until you are behind! The study pods are conveniently arranged the days before the class meets—especially if you need help with homework or would like to review for an exam.
Where do these study pods take place?
The schedule is posted by class on the table below including days, times, and locations.
What should I bring to the study pods?
Don’t arrive empty-handed. Bring course materials—textbook, homework, supplemental materials, online materials, etc.
