Yes. LVC signed and submitted the certification and agreement form to the United States Department of Education and will use 50 percent of the funds allocated for emergency financial aid grants to students.

LVC received $1,442,705. This amount is based primarily on the number of full-time enrolled students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant. Fifty percent of these funds are mandated to be used as financial aid grants to students. As a result, a minimum amount of $721,353 will be awarded as direct grants to students.

Students who are or could be eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), If a student has filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), then the student has demonstrated eligibility to participate in programs under Section 484 the HEA. Based on guidance from the U.S. Department of Education, the number of eligible and potentially eligible students, and the allocation LVC received, a committee of staff from the financial aid and business offices developed a methodology that would allow the majority of students who experienced increased expenses to receive a grant. Grant amounts are based on the following factors: 1) degree status (undergraduate vs. graduate), 2) enrollment status (full-time or part-time), 3) financial need as determined by the expected family contribution (EFC) for undergraduate students.

Grants for full-time undergraduate students will range from $125 to $1,000 (based on EFC).

EFC Grant Amount
0-5,576 (Pell Eligible) $1,000
5,577-20,000 $500
20,001-60,792 $250
60,793 and up $125

Grants for part-time undergraduate students will range from $100 to $500 (based on EFC).

EFC Grant Amount
0-5,576 (Pell Eligible) $500
5,577-20,000 $250
20,001-60,792 $125
60,793 and up $100

Grants for full-time graduate students will be $500.
Grants for part-time graduate students will be $250.

Both students who are eligible to apply and those potentially eligible were sent an email with instructions. Log in to certify that you experienced increased expenses and confirm your address. Specifically, you must certify that you have increased expenses including at least one of the following: housing, food, technology, coursework, or health care due to the disruption of campus operations as a result of the coronavirus.

After certifying you experienced increased expenses and confirming your address, you will receive the grant in two to three weeks. If your bank account information is on file with LVC, the funds will be direct deposited. Otherwise, you will receive a check in the mail. Most students will receive a check.

Funds will be awarded until they are exhausted on a first-come, first-served basis through November 16, 2020.
