Build Resiliency in Students

LVC's Graduate Certificate in Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellness will help you to recognize and make decisions about how to support students who are experiencing social or emotional difficulties.

What is social and emotional learning?

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Social and emotional skills are critical to be a good student and citizen. SEL skills develop in the context of social relationships and within school and classroom contexts, where children learn, apply, and practice the skills of self-awareness, self-management, interpersonal awareness, relationship skills, and decision-making.

Why LVC's Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellness Certificate?

The four courses for the Social, Emotional, Behavioral Wellness Certificate are designed based on the latest information and research regarding methods, tools, and best practices for teaching and supporting students with social, emotional, behavioral wellness in the K-12 setting.

These courses will provide educators with the tools and knowledge needed to work successfully with family members and the broader community in supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral wellness of their students.

Students can begin Summer II (July). For more information on the Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellness Certificate, please call 717-867-6089 or email graduateadmission@lvc.edu.
