What is a Hooding Ceremony?

A hooding ceremony provides an institution the occasion to acknowledge those students receiving advanced degrees. Each student will come forward and have their hood placed over their head by the program faculty. This is a special gathering reserved just for those students earning graduate degrees and does not replace the commencement ceremony.

The ceremony allows our program the opportunity to gather with graduates, faculty, staff, and alumni to recognize the accomplishments of our graduating students. Please remember to wear your regalia (graduation gown) and bring your hood/sash along with you for the ceremony.

You may attend the hooding ceremony even if you are not participating in commencement (therefore you do not have regalia). We will announce and recognize you with your peers.
