TerraCycle at LVC
What is TerraCycle?
TerraCycle is an organization that creates collection and solution programs for all kinds of typically non-recyclable waste, turning the non-recyclable into recyclable. LVC has partnered with TerraCycle to collect items for upcycling.
What items are being collected?
The first collection brigade in conjunction with Move-In Day collects flip flops. Students and staff are encouraged to bring their old flip flops to deposit in a collection brigade in any of the residence halls, Mund College Center, or in the commuter lounge.
Future brigades on campus will collect ink cartridges and lunchable containers. Check this page often for new brigade types and locations.
What are the benefits of participating?
Contributing items that are usually bound for the landfill helps to eliminate waste. Additionally, LVC earns points for each item collected, which are redeemed and used to feed families around the world, provide healthy drinking water to people in third world countries, and even send school supplies to students in need.
