London, England: Literacy & Literature II
May 12-June 1, 2012
Dr. Jane Yingling, Co-Chair and Associate Professor of Education, will teach the existing LVC Early Childhood Education course, ECE Literacy & Literature II, in London. The 3 week course will focus on the five components of balanced literature (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension) through in-class instruction, host school visits for teaching observations, and excursions to museums and popular tourist attractions.
**This program is open to Education majors only.**
The highlights:

Earn 3 credits of an Early Childhood Education major requirement

Live in downtown London with other LVC students in shared rooms

Receive a travel pass for unlimited subway and bus transportation around London

Excursions:

Full day bus tour of London

Full day Harry Potter tour of London

Full day excursion to Canterbury and Leeds Castle

Victoria & Albert Museum
The program cost of approximately $4300 includes:
Food, airfare, and personal expenses are not included in the program cost. Airfare estimated at $750 roundtrip.
Application deadline is FEBRUARY 1, 2012. Applications must be accompanied by deposit payment of $200, non-refundable after February 1, 2012. Remaining balance is due March 15, 2012.
Financial aid and scholarships are not available for this summer study abroad program.
