Orientation 2009
What does it mean to be a leader?

Leadership. What is leadership? Why does everyone talk about leadership?

Some define leadership as something you do when you are in charge of a group. Others may say that leadership is having an impact on another's life. Whatever your definition is, the leadership development program here at LVC seeks to help you build on skills you already have and help you learn others that will be necessary to succeed personally, socially, and academically.

The leadership development program, the EDGE, provides structured leadership development experience for LVC students. Throughout the year, various 45 minute workshops are scheduled to assist you with your leadership development. You can elect to take any number of these workshops to complete unique certificates.

The unique EDGE certificates you can earn include sequential certificates (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) and specialized certificates (Athletic, Social Justice and Diversity, and Community Service

There are, of course, tons of other ways to become at leader at LVC. Positions such as LDEs, RAs, M&Ms, PMs, Tutors, and Volunteers are all terms for roles at LVC that you'll become very familiar with.

A very distinctive program offered at LVC is the Social Justice Institute (SJI). SJI provides an intensive, experiential-based program designed to inspire and encourage students to not just understand and appreciate differences based on race, class, gender, sexual orientation, and level of ability, but to take direct action to bring about equality.
