It is my great pleasure as the 2009-20010 Greek Council President to welcome the Class of 2013 to Lebanon Valley College. LVC provides many opportunities for students to get involved on campus. One of these opportunities is to become a part of Greek Life.
Greek organizations play a very active role in the LVC campus community. In addition to sponsoring social activities such as Greek Week, formals and mixers, members of campus fraternities and sororities also participate in a wide variety of community service projects on campus and also within the greater Annville community.
There are six fraternities and five sororities on campus that a student may choose to join. Each individual organization has established its own mission and service goals that its members work toward achieving. Although some people believe fraternities and sororities provide only a social outlet, this is a fallacy. Joining a fraternity or sorority is more than that. It is about commitment, dedication, and team work to better yourself and others.
When you see a member of a fraternity or sorority on campus wearing the letters of their respective Greek organization, stop that person and ask about his or her experiences in Greek Life. You might be surprised to hear what they will tell you. Each Greek Organization has their own unique qualities that make them special and essential to the Greek Life on the campus of Lebanon Valley College.
In closing, I would just like to say that I hope you take a look at the Greek Life here at Lebanon Valley College. Becoming Greek is not just any college career decision; it becomes a major part of your identity on campus and still remains a part of your life even after you graduate. I hope to see you at the Activities Fair in the fall to find out more information about Greek Life.
Sincerely,
Jesse Gallo '10
