Annual Events

Opening Convocation
New students, faculty, and staff are invited to the Opening Convocation marking the formal beginning of the academic year. The Opening Convocation represents the official welcoming of new students to the Lebanon Valley College community.

New Student Orientation
New student orientation is specifically designed to help new students make the transition to college life. New students will become familiar with the campus, classmates, upper-class students, faculty, and staff. Formal and informal meetings are planned with faculty, academic advisors, staff, Peer Mentors, and Resident Assistants.

Peer mentors are student volunteers committed to helping new students learn about and become familiar with the college community. These upper-class students will be interacting with new students throughout the year.

During the initial days of orientation there will be educational and social programs and recreational activities for new students to become acquainted with other students.

Activities Fair
New and upper-class students can learn more about the variety of campus organizations and events offered at LVC during this informative fair. Representatives from many student groups are available to discuss their organizations and to answer questions. Look for announcements of the event during the first week of classes.

The event traditionally features a live nativity scene sponsored by Servants of Christ, a Campus Christian service organization.

The Pink Game occurs each February during an LVC women’s basketball game. This special game honors the strength, courage, and passion of those who have faced the challenges of breast cancer. A collaborative effort of the local and College communities, this event raises money and awareness and provides a fun-filled night for all in attendance that hopefully ends in victory!

Founders Day
Celebrating the founding of the College in 1866, Founders Day traditionally recognizes a community member who exhibits “unselfish and unusual community service in founding avenues leading to the future.” The President’s Award is given at this time to a student organization on campus whose members demonstrate character, leadership, and community service.

Relay for Life
The LVC chapter of Colleges Against Cancer hosts Relay for Life each spring in the Arnold Sports Center. More than 500 students representing 60 teams walk throughout the night and participate in a variety of activities such as the luminary and fight back ceremonies, “Miss Relay” contest, dodgeball, basketball, the “ice melt,” concerts, dancing, performers, and more. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
