One of the major projects that teams undertook in the course of this class revolved around the ethical aspect of Death in American culture. Teams chose topics from a broad list of moral issues related to Death and were required to debate collaboratively constructed statements, choosing either the Affirmative or the Negative side. The debates were quite informal, following, very loosely, the version of a Karl Popper style debate described at this website. The class collaboratively decided on the following topics: Abortion, Capital Punishment, Eugenics, and Euthanasia. Teams were given considerable freedom in the format of their contribution to the website, thus these works take on various forms from rough outlines with sources to well-composed essays.
