Poster Sessions
Several psychology classes require that you prepare a poster for presentation.
The following should be used as a general guide when preparing a poster (some
professors may have their own format so make sure to check the syllabus or
clarify the format with your professor). Posters usually include a title,
author(s) name(s) and affiliations (when appropriate), an abstract,
method/procedure section, results and conclusions. This information is placed
on a poster board that should be at least 3 feet by 2 feet or larger.
Remember that your poster will be read from a distance so be sure that the
lettering is large enough to be easily read. The following are some
suggestions. Title: 1.5 inch letters; Author names, affiliations and section
headings: 1 inch letters; Text: no smaller than 1/4 inch. If you prepare your
poster with a word processor, it will be very easy make adequately sized
letters.
Tables, figures or photographs may also be used on your posters. Make sure
that whatever you present, it is professionally prepared. Remember, the quality
of your poster is a direct reflection on you, the Psychology Department and
Lebanon Valley College. Take pride in your work!
