U.S. News Ranks LVC Even Higher in "Great Schools, Great Prices" Category
Lebanon Valley College is now ranked number two in the North in the "Great Schools, Great Prices" category among "Best Baccalaureate Colleges" in the U.S. News & World Report's 2010 edition of the book America's Best Colleges. LVC was ranked number three last year, and has been among the top 10 colleges in its category for the last five years. LVC retains its ranking as eighth overall among the 71 comparable institutions in its regional category.
U.S. News & World Report publishes the best known ratings of the nation's colleges and universities. The "Great Schools, Great Prices" ranking is based on a formula to determine which colleges and universities offer the best value relative to their academic quality. That academic quality is compared to the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal is for students.
Lebanon Valley College has been ranked among the top tier of the 319 Best Baccalaureate Colleges in the nation for 16 consecutive years. LVC is recognized as a national leader in important indicators of academic quality.
Among the 319 institutions nationwide in its category, the College is ranked in the top two percent for enrolling Freshmen from the Top 25 Percent of their High School Class and in the top three percent for Average Freshman Retention Rate (meaning the students return for their sophomore years). LVC's Average Graduation Rate of 71 percent puts the College among the top three percent of all 319 colleges and universities in the country for Baccalaureate Colleges. Only seven institutions had a higher graduation rate, and three of those eight schools are the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Air Force Academy.
LVC President Dr. Stephen C. MacDonald said, "We are gratified that Lebanon Valley College continues to merit recognition as a great college at an excellent price, and that some of the region's best students take advantage of what this college has to offer."
