Saturday, August 25: Orientation Begins
8 a.m.–Noon
Residence Halls Open for New Students
All residence students should first report to their residence halls to pick up
keys, student ID cards, and peer mentor information.

Information Tables
All students are invited to visit the tables located inside the main concourse of the Mund College Center for an orientation T-shirt, vehicle registration, local banking information, IT support, and Comcast cable information.

ID Photos
Students who have not had a photo taken for their ID card should go to the Mund College Center. Students must have an ID card to gain access to their assigned residence hall, the Vernon and Doris Bishop Library, Arnold Sports Center, and dining facilities. Photos will be taken again from 2:15–3 p.m.

Annual Children of Alumni Photos (Legacies)
All children of parents or grandparents who attended LVC are invited to participate in this annual tradition. We will take a group photo of all new legacies and photos with any of their family members who attended LVC.

Commuting Students Check-In (C)
All new commuting students must report to the Mund College Center for vehicle registration, peer mentor information, and their ID card. Commuting students are invited to be our guests at meals through Monday’s lunch.

Water Ceremony
All are invited to participate in a traditional water ceremony. Please bring a small amount of water representative of home, pour it in one of four urns that have been placed in the Peace Garden, and sign the registry. Once collected, all water will be poured into the pond as a symbol of the support of the extended community.

All new commuters will meet with peer mentors and College administrators before going to lunch on the Social Quad.

All new students and families are invited to join members of the faculty and staff at an outdoor barbecue luncheon on the Social Quad. You may also elect to visit the College Store to purchase textbooks or other supplies at this time.

Students will assemble on the back steps of Miller Chapel for the group photo. Families are invited to take pictures. Immediately after the photo, families and students will be directed to their next meeting. Students are encouraged to

Settling In and Goodbyes
Parents and families bid farewell to their students. Roommates finish moving in and start getting acquainted. This time may also be used to visit the College Store or have a photo ID taken. Don’t forget that Oktoberfest/Homecoming and Family Weekend is Oct. 12–13!

3–5 p.m.
New Students Meeting with Peer Mentors
All new resident and commuting students will meet with their peer mentors for introductions, information about the College, and group discussions before going to dinner together.

This LVC tradition is an event like you’ve never experienced before. Plan to be there! All new students, resident assistants, and peer mentors meet in the Academic Quad.

Hypnotist Brad Clark
Brad has traveled the country entertaining thousands of people with his UNLEASHED Hypnosis comedy show. You will have the opportunity to experience the state of hypnosis on stage or from your seat in the audience. Once the participants are hypnotized, Brad guides them to faraway places and lets them experience feelings, smells, and tastes that bring smiles to their faces and yours. The laughter doesn’t stop once the entertainers are off stage. You will be amazed at the post-hypnotic suggestions that last long after the show is over.

Worship Service
This student-led Christian worship service, featuring the LVC praise band, is open to all students. Chaplain Paul Fullmer and representatives from local churches will be available to offer information and answer questions.

Academic Orientation and Brunch
All students will meet with their department faculty for brunch and an orientation related to their major field of study. All students are required to attend to schedule advising appointments for Monday.

A Shot of Reality
“A Shot of Reality” educates students about encountering alcohol in a college environment. Entertaining and informative, performers present the show in the form of a birthday party, which will make you laugh, think, and inform your behavior toward alcohol. This show tackles the topics of alcoholism, binge drinking, social mistakes, assault, heath risks, drunken driving, and more. This program is required of all new students.

Pre-Convocation Instructions
All new students meet with Robert Mikus ’90, associate dean of student affairs, and Dr. Michael Green, vice president of academic affairs and dean of the faculty, for information related to the Opening Convocation. This program is required of all new students.

Opening Convocation
The tradition of the Opening Convocation marks the formal opening of the academic year. Student Government officers will lead incoming students through a receiving line of Lebanon Valley College’s faculty, administration, and trustees in full academic regalia. This program is required of all new students.
