The American Heart Association has awarded Lebanon Valley College its gold-level recognition for being a “Fit-Friendly” organization, an acknowledgement by the AHA for LVC’s devotion to the health of its faculty and staff. The College joins three prominent Pennsylvania universities — Drexel, Villanova, and Shippensburg — in receiving the accolade.

Gold-level recognition, according to the AHA website, means that a business or organization offers all employees physical activity support, provides healthy eating options, promotes a wellness culture, and embraces a criteria as outlined by the AHA in the areas of physical activity, nutrition, and culture.

“We are honored and excited to be recognized by the American Heart Association as a Gold Level Fit-Friendly Worksite,” said Ann Hayes, director of human resources and deputy title IX coordinator. “Physical activity and employee wellness are very important priorities here at LVC. As part of our work - life balance program, we encourage full time employees and their families to use their free LVC Fitness Center membership regularly. Our LVC employee Fit Club encourages and motivates employees to stay fit and healthy by participating in exercise incentives and fun fitness challenges throughout the year. Also, our dining service regularly offers healthy eating options for our employees and students. We appreciate the recognition of our efforts by the American Heart Association and will continue to keep employee wellness a priority.”

Lebanon Valley College is only the third organization in Lebanon County to receive this award, and will receive a plaque identifying the school as a Gold-Recognition Fit-Friendly Award Winner.
