Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity to Host First-Ever Undie Dash
04.30.13 |
The Rho Chi chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon will host the first-ever Undie Dash at Lebanon Valley College along with entertainment, music, games, food, and prizes, Wednesday, May 1 from 4:30-9:30 p.m. The dash willl begin at 9:15 p.m. Clothing and monetary donations will benefit Lebanon County HOPES.

The event was inspired by a national charity event called the Undie Run, in which individual runners literally donate the clothes off their backs to charity and run the race in their undergarments. TKE will host a smaller-scale version of the event with a half-mile dash as a conclusion to a day of fun events. Runners are encouraged to run in their undergarments, but it is not a requirement. Registration for the dash is open to LVC students for just $5.

"We'd really like to see this become an annual event because it's a great way to have fun while benefiting a good cause. We also like the idea that it will be something fun to wrap up the year with besides finals," Jason Dietz, vice president of the fraternity, said.

Throughout the evening, bands including Small Town Titans, Paradrei, and Milo will perform. A solo act by Corey Robert '12 and DJing by Nikki Abbamont '13 will also be part of the entertainment. Food, including Bricker's French Fries and a meal provided by the College's dining services, will be available to attendees. Rita's Italian Ice will also be given away during the celebration.

TKE hopes to raise $1,000 for HOPES, 100 pounds of clothing, and reach a goal of 150 runners.

TKE is the world's largest social fraternity with 291 active chapters and colonies located throughout the United States and Canada focused on building better men who, in turn, will build a better world.

Lebanon County HOPES Homeless Resource Center provides an emergency shelter with food, laundry, and shower facilities for those in need. HOPES serves as a home-base for those who need a help to help break them out of the cycle of poverty and homelessness. They are funded by Jubilee Ministries, Lebanon, Pa.
