08.30.12 |
Two food painting workshops, one for adults and one for children, will be held at Lebanon Valley College's Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery Saturday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m., as part of "A Feast for the Eyes;" an exhibition featuring still-life paintings of food, on display Aug. 31 until Oct. 21.

York artist Pat Wertz, a graduate of the Moore College of Art, will conduct a "Sweet Creations" painting workshop working with pastries and confections at the galley from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Participants must pre-register and pay a registration fee of $20 for gallery members; $25 for non-members; and $15 for LVC students.

A shorter session for children, the "Sweet Creations" Children's Workshop, will be held the same day at the gallery from 9–11:30 a.m. Participants must pre-register and pay a registration fee of $10 for all registrants.

For more information on both events, please contact the gallery at 717-867-6445 or gallery@lvc.edu. Alternatively, a registration form for each event is available at http://www.lvc.edu/gallery.

Gallery hours are Wednesdays from 5 to 8 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 4:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and by appointment for groups. Schools and other organizations are encouraged to contact the Gallery for a guided visit.

"A Feast for the Eyes" is part of the 2012-2013 Colloquium Series on HAPPINESS. HAPPINESS is a year-long integrated series of guest speakers, roundtable discussions, films and courses that will consider the meaning and importance of happiness as a psychological, physiological, social and cultural phenomenon. It involves presentations by speakers from a number of disciplines who approach the theme from the standpoints of the arts, the wellness of body and mind, the demands of a consumer economy, the expectations and duties of political life, and the broad philosophical questions of human flourishing.
