Dr. Rebecca Lister, Lebanon Valley College associate professor of music and vocalist, will perform with Beverly Butts, adjunct professor of clarinet and woodwinds, and Dr. Eric Fung, professor of piano, on January 27 at 3 p.m. in Lebanon Valley College's Miller Chapel. The trio will perform Schubert's "Der Hirt auf dem Felsen;" Schumann's "Frauenliebe und –leben;" and Spohr's "Sechs deutsche Lieder." The concert is free and open to the public.

Dr. Lister earned her bachelor's degree in music education at James Madison University and continued her graduate studies at the Florida State University where she earned a master's degree in voice performance and her certificate in early music. Later she completed her doctorate of performance at FSU in 1997.

She teaches private voice lessons, vocal literature, vocal pedagogy, and diction at LVC as well as offering master classes on vocal technique and style. Although early music is one of her main interests, Lister enjoys repertoire from all style periods, especially chamber music, music by female composers, and art songs in Spanish by contemporary composers.

Beverly Butts is an LVC alumnus, where she received her bachelor's degree in music education. She also attended Michigan State University for her master's degree in performance and has worked toward a Ph.D. in music at New York University. In addition to being a member of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Butts frequently plays clarinet in several symphonies, including the Hershey Symphony. She also enjoys teaching clarinet, woodwind methods, and clarinet choir at LVC as well as giving master classes for both high school and college students.

Dr. Eric Fung, a Steinway artist who has recently performed in Hong Kong, offers master classes on "The Keyboard Practice of Johann Sebastian Bach" and "Hidden Repetitions in Bach's Partita No. 4" at institutions and professional organizations, such as Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Fung has been awarded numerous prizes throughout his career, including first prize at the Juilliard School Concerto Competition and first prize at the Corpus Christi Young Artists International Competition. Fung teaches at LVC and adjudicates for the Greater Princeton Steinway Society Scholarship Competition and several other competitions.
