Lebanon Valley College Dance Team to Showcase Their Love for Dance
03.11.13 |
On Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m., the Lebanon Valley College Dance Team will perform in their first ever showcase on the Leedy Theater stage inside Mund College Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

The showcase is part of the HAPPINESS Colloquium Series at the college and will illustrate how performance can bring joy and happiness to the dancers and viewers. March 11-15 marks a celebration of a "Week of Happiness" on campus, inspired by the United Nations' International Day of Happiness on March 20.

"When I dance, all of my worries disappear. For me, happiness is doing what I love -dancing - and that happiness is increased when performing for others who find happiness in what I do too," said Brittany Soda, senior dance team member.

The show, set to last for an hour and 15 minutes, will feature 18 different numbers including solos, duets, trios, and group performances. Dance types throughout the show will vary, including jazz, lyrical/contemporary, and hip-hop.

"We want to show LVC and the surrounding community that our love for dance is more than just dancing at halftime of basketball games," said dance team president Alexis Lelii.

HAPPINESS is a year-long integrated series of guest speakers, roundtable discussions, films and courses that will consider the meaning and importance of happiness as a psychological, physiological, social and cultural phenomenon. It involves presentations by speakers from a number of disciplines who approach the theme from the standpoints of the arts, the wellness of body and mind, the demands of a consumer economy, the expectations and duties of political life, and the broad philosophical questions of human flourishing.
