Erica Trapasso ’10 Uses Art History And German For Career With Artnet
12.01.10 |
Erica Trapasso ’10 came to LVC wanting to pursue a graduate degree in archaeology. But after taking courses in Renaissance and Baroque art and architecture she became so interested in European art history that she studied abroad in Italy to gain access to the great works of Michelangelo and other masters while learning to speak Italian.

Upon her return to the U.S., Trapasso began laying the groundwork for her career path: combining her interests in art history and languages. While pursuing a major in Art and Art History and a minor in German, Trapasso worked at the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery under the guidance of gallery director Dr. Lisa Tice, where she conducted research on the College’s art collection. With Tice’s assistance Trapasso landed a prestigious internship after graduation at the Princeton University Art Museum near her home in New Jersey.

After completing her internship, Trapasso was hired as a production editor on the German team for the online company Artnet, located in New York City. At Artnet she is part of a team that monitors auction sales in northern and eastern European countries using a price database system that is, according to Artnet, “the most comprehensive color illustrated archive of fine art auction results worldwide.” In this new position Trapasso not only applies research skills from her degree in Art and Art History, but she utilizes her proficiency in German. “My decision to minor in German at LVC was one of the best decisions I made while at school,” she states. “My language skills and my knowledge of art history are very important for my job.”
