Piano Duo Anderson & Roe to Perform at Lebanon Valley College’s Lutz Hall
10.10.13 |
Lebanon Valley College's Distinguished Artist Series presents piano duo and Steinway Artists Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe. The duo will perform in a public concert Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. in Lutz Hall of the Blair Music Center. Tickets are available for $10 from the Music Department. Click here to view a video of the duo performing Igor Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring."

Anderson and Roe met in their freshman year at The Juilliard School in 2000 and have since performed in Vancouver, Beijing, Seoul, Singapore, Italy, and most major U.S. cities, as well as numerous venues in New York City, including Carnegie Hall. Together they have appeared on MTV's “Total Request Live,” NPR's “All Things Considered” and “From the Top,” APM's “Performance Today,” the Cliburn Concert Series, the Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival, and dozens of summer chamber music festivals.

Noted for their energetic performances, original composition, and notorious music videos, the duo has been lauded as “Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers transposed from the dance floor to the keyboard” by the Southampton Press, and “the intense synchronization of genius” by Third Coast Digest. Anderson & Roe aim to make classical music a relevant and powerful force around the world.

“A lot of people, they can be superb pianists, but when they play duo, you still hear two different people. But for them (Anderson and Roe), you hear one. That’s the difference,” said Dr. Eric Fung, LVC associate professor of music. Fung is coordinating the concert and encourages attendees to have an open mind. “Just enjoy the music and be inspired, because it’s so different,” he said.

This featured Distinguished Artist event gives students, faculty, staff, and the community the opportunity to experience a unique and talented musical act. Tickets are available for $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Family tickets are available for $20 from the Music Department by calling 717-867-6275. Valley Musica members receive two free tickets to the Anderson & Roe concert. Learn more or sign up at www.lvc.edu/supportlvc/valley-musica.aspx.
