Peterson will also share extracts from his ground-breaking hit play, Transfigurations, which looks at the stories and lives of transgender Bible characters.
University professors have been pleasantly surprised to learn that Toscano's performance art is not only hilarious and infused with a keen social consciousness but also comic theater grounded in scholarship. Drawing on ancient texts, contemporary gender theories, and literary analysis, his "performance scholarship" provides rich content for students. In addition, he models critical thinking, research-based pedagogy, and innovative literary criticism.
Peterson Toscano has presented at academic conferences and universities throughout North America, the UK and Africa including McGill University, Swarthmore University, University of California at Irvine, Yale University, Cambridge University, University of Yaounde, and many more. He lectures on gender, human rights, Biblical interpretations, theater, and peace studies.
