Leadership LVC
Leadership Development at LVC seeks to support the College’s call to prepare our students to be “people of broad vision, capable of making informed decisions” and help them “acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to live and work in our rapidly changing world.” In the spirit of collaboration with various campus offices and academic departments, LVC provides active and passive opportunities to enhance student learning and development and assist all students with developing their potential to create meaningful, positive change in themselves, their organizations, and their community.
- The Leadership Institute: Allows students to reflect on their leadership-related experiences and support them with evidence of newly acquired leadership skills. A capstone portfolio is an opportunity to display all leadership learning and activities in one place. The portfolio should demonstrate that students are equipped with the superior knowledge, skills, perspectives, and experiences associated with leadership development.
- The President's Council: The President's Council's mission is to provide structured opportunities for the presidents of campus organizations to assess current issues with their organizations and seek assistance from other leaders on how to solve them. In addition, the council is an additional sounding board for campus concerns and a vehicle for change.
- The Student Leadership Resource Center (housed in the Student Government Office, lower level of the Mund College Center): the SLRC provides office space and materials for the Leadership Development Educators, Student Government, and the Office of Student Activities.
- The Social Justice Institute (co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs): The 6th Annual Social Justice Institute was held January 10-12, 2013. The Social Justice Institute provides an intensive, experiential-based program designed to inspire and encourage students to not just understand and appreciate differences based on race, class, gender, sexual orientation, and level of ability, but to take direct action to bring about equality.
